As it was a closed town, there were no churches in Sillamäe during Soviet time. In 1986, members of Jõhvi Methodist Church started visiting their relatives who lived in Sillamäe. Many of them became Christians and wanted to become baptized. One of them was Petrov Basil, whom but by the time of baptism ceremony had been diagnosed ear infection. The day was was in October, it was snowing and the weather was cold. Nevertheless, Basil got baptized and received the healing power from God so that his ear infection disappeared.

The Christians of Sillamäe began visiting nursing home and worship services were held there. In the course of years, Christians in Sillamäe used various rented premises to hold worship services. In 2001, foundation meeting of Sillamäe Methodist Church took place. In 2003, with the help of a partner church a building at Ranna Street that had previously belonged to Maapank (Land Bank of Estonia) was bought for the church and adapted for its activities. Besides worship services on Sundays, there are fellowship evenings on Wednesdays, where there is Bible study and conversation.

The church is like a family, together church feasts are celebrated, people have conversations with each other and study the Word of God.
