Taavi Hollman was born in Tallinn into a Methodist family. Taavi gave his life to the Lord at the age of 10 on a Thursday night worship service in the Tal­linn UMC in Mere Puiestee Street in July 1979. On October 12 1986 he joined the Tallinn UMC where he started to lead youth ser­vices and prayer fellowship of young people already at the age of 14–15.

Taavi Hollman finished Tallinn Secondary School no. 36 in 1987 and imme­diately continued his studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Tallinn Polytechnical Institute, with the specialty of civil and building engineering. In 1988 his studies were discontinued due to required Soviet military service in the Kaliningrad oblast. A year later all stu­dents who were in military service were released and allowed to continue studies at the universities. Having returned to Estonia, Holl­man continued his studies at the Tallinn Polytechni­cal Institute but at the same time he sensed the desire for a full-time ministry in God’s King­dom. In 1991 Taavi attended a 3-month Bible School organized by the Global Outreach Bible Institute.

Taavi Hollman married Merle Purje on 24 Octo­ber 1992, they have five children.

In March 1992 Taavi Holl­man was ordained deacon by bishop Hans Växby and was assigned to the Tal­linn UMC as youth pastor. In February 1993 Holl­man went to study at the Tartu Theological Academy but continued his theo­logical studies at the newly founded Baltic Methodist Theological Seminary in September 1994. He studied part-time, being at the same time actively involved in the church, and graduated from the Seminary in 2000. In June of the same year Taavi Hollman was ordained elder by bishop Växby.

From 2000 to 2005 Holl­man worked as chaplain at the Baltic Methodist Theo­logical Seminary and since September 2001 he teaches evangelism and church growth at the Seminary, all the while continuing as Youth Pastor in Tallinn UMC. On June 18, 2005 Taavi Hollman was elected superintendent of the UMC in Estonia.

As youth pastor, Holl­man has represented the UMC in Estonia at the UMC Northern Europe Youth Council and at the Estonian Youth Council of Churches, he has also been a member of the Estonian Methodist Youth Commit­tee and chairman of the Board of Missions. He has spoken at World Methodist Evangelism International Christian Youth Conferences on Evangelism at Hamburg, Germany and Belfast, Ireland.

Since August 2005 Taavi Hollman is a UMC repre­sentative in the Estonian Council of Churches, he is also a board member of the Estonian Evangelical Al­liance. Upon his initiative fellowship and prayer days for the pastors and chap­lains of the UMC in Estonia were started. Hollman was elected a member of the World Methodist Council Executive Committee in Seoul in 2006.
